Pots

A Pot is an escrow of HYPE pledged to give one token its ticker. Pots wait in a queue ordered by size, and the descending auction price decides which one goes first.

Opening a Pot

Anyone can open a Pot with openPot(token, ticker). Opening is free apart from gas.

The token must be a standard Elysium ERC-20 that exposes name(), symbol(), decimals() and totalSupply(). Fee-on-transfer and rebasing tokens are not supported.

When the Pot opens, the contract computes and stores the HyperCore spec of the token. This is step 1 of the Rite, planned once and checked later.

ValueRule
weiDecimalsStarts at 8 and is lowered until the whole supply fits in a uint64 of Core wei and evmExtraWeiDecimals is within -2 to 18
evmExtraWeiDecimalsdecimals - weiDecimals
szDecimalsmax(0, weiDecimals - 6), so that szDecimals + 5 is at most weiDecimals

If no value of weiDecimals satisfies these rules, the token is unsupported and opening reverts.

Example: a token with 18 decimals and a supply of 1,000,000,000 gets weiDecimals = 8, szDecimals = 2, evmExtraWeiDecimals = 10, and a maximum supply of 100,000,000,000,000,000 Core wei.

Ticker rules

The ticker is displayed in a plate of six slots.

Six characters, permanent. A ticker is accepted only if all of these hold:

  1. It matches [A-Z0-9]{1,6}: one to six characters, capital letters and digits.
  2. It is not reserved. Reserved tickers: HYPE, USDC, USDT, USDE, USDH, PURR, BTC, ETH, SOL, UBTC, UETH, USOL, HFUN.
  3. It is free on HyperCore (on testnet, on the simulated HyperCore).
  4. No other live Pot uses it.

A token has at most one Pot at a time.

Pledging and withdrawing

  • pledge(potId) adds the attached HYPE to an Open Pot. Anyone can pledge, any amount above zero, any number of times.
  • withdraw(potId, amount) returns part or all of your pledge while the Pot is Open.

When a Rite starts, pledges are frozen. They cannot be withdrawn until the Rite ends. If the Rite fails, the Pot returns to Open and withdrawals work again.

The queue rule

There is no funding goal. The ticker auction price descends during each window, and the Pot is the ceiling of what sponsors will pay.

A Pot becomes eligible when all of these hold:

  1. It is Open.
  2. Its total is at least the current auction price plus 5% (price * 105 / 100), the 5% covering the fees.
  3. Its token has a reference price (on testnet, only demo tokens have one).
  4. Its ticker is still free on HyperCore.
  5. No other Rite is active, and the current auction window has not already been sold.

Among eligible Pots, the largest goes first. A tie goes to the older Pot. So the largest Pot is reached first as the price comes down, and smaller Pots wait for later windows. See Tickers and the auction.

Statuses

Transitions: Open to In Rite when an Officiant claims the Rite. In Rite to Listed when settle passes. In Rite back to Open when the Rite fails.

Closing an empty Pot

An Open Pot that holds no pledge, no bounty and no crossing deposit can be closed with closePot(potId). Its opener can close it at any time. Anyone can close it once it has been open for the idle delay (1 hour on testnet). Closing frees the token and the ticker for a new Pot.
