FAQ
Short answers to the questions people ask most about Symbolon. Each answer links to the page with the detail.
The basics
What does Symbolon do?
It lists an Elysium token on a HyperCore spot order book. Holders fund the ticker in a Pot, a bonded Officiant runs the issuer ceremony, contracts verify the result, and the deployer's powers are locked away at the end. See Overview.
Who can open a Pot?
Anyone, for any standard ERC-20 on Elysium, with a free ticker of 1 to 6 capital letters or digits. See Pots.
Do I need the token's team?
No. That is the point. A token with no team, or a fair-launched token, can be listed by its holders.
Is this live on mainnet?
No. Symbolon runs on the Elysium testnet. The HyperCore steps are simulated. See Testnet and simulation.
Money
Can I get my HYPE back?
Yes, while the Pot is Open, at any time, with withdraw. During a Rite pledges are frozen. If the Rite fails, the Pot reopens and you can withdraw again. If it succeeds, you claim your share of the surplus.
How much does a listing cost?
The ticker price at the auction plus 5%: 3% to the Officiant and 2% to the protocol. On mainnet, ecosystem builders report a floor of 500 HYPE for the ticker. See Fees.
Why is there no funding goal?
Because the auction price moves. The Pot is a ceiling. The auction comes down, and the largest Pot it reaches goes first. See Tickers and the auction.
What happens to the surplus?
Everything above the ticker price plus 5% is returned to sponsors in proportion to their pledges. The last sponsor to claim receives the remainder, so nothing is left in the contract.
What is a bounty for?
It rewards sponsors in the listed token. Anyone can add one, and it is shared between sponsors if the listing succeeds. See Bounties.
Trust
What stops the Officiant from keeping the trading fees?
Settlement requires the deployer fee share to be 0%. Under Hyperliquid's rules the share can never be raised again. See The Seat.
What if the Officiant disappears halfway?
After the deadline anyone can fail the Rite. The Officiant loses its whole bond to the Treasury, and sponsors withdraw their HYPE. See The Rite.
Can the Officiant freeze my account after listing?
No. The freeze privilege must be revoked before settlement, and revocation is permanent.
Can the Officiant mint more tokens on HyperCore?
No. Genesis is one-shot, and settlement checks that the whole supply sits at the system address and matches the EVM supply. See Verification.
Who can call settle?
Anyone. The contract checks the HyperCore state itself, so the caller does not matter.
Practical
Why is my Pot not eligible?
One of these: the auction price plus 5% is still above the Pot, a larger Pot is ahead, another Rite is running, the current window is already sold, the ticker was taken, or the token has no reference price on testnet.
How do I become an Officiant?
Post a bond of at least 0.1 test HYPE on the Officiants page. You can run a Rite by hand with the console, or run the bot. See Officiants.
Is $SYMB launched?
No. $SYMB is not launched and has no contract address. Any token using the name today is not ours. See $SYMB.
Where are official announcements made?
Only on @SymbolonHQ.
